Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, his followers, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of Roanoke Island Presbyterian Church is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community and spreads overseas to every nation. RIPC members are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as preparing church bulletins and sharing in the care of our buildings and grounds to outreach ministries such as our 5-star child care mission and All God’s Children, the church’s fair trade shop that supports outreach and missions around the world.

Music

God-honoring worship is something we strive for. Church members of all ages enjoy participating in our music ministry. Some play their instruments. Some are vocalists. Others are involved in the choir. These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of RIPC, using their talents and gifts to glorify God.  To learn more about getting involved in this ministry, contact RIPC’s Music Director Matt Fleckenstein (Fleck) (tuninghammer@hotmail.com).

Greeters

The Greeting Team at RIPC fills an important role. They are involved in handing out worship bulletins and children’s worship activity bags and bulletins, welcoming visitors and offering information packets, answering questions, providing direction, and generally ensuring that the service proceeds in an orderly and friendly fashion. The Greeting Team is a servant-hearted group of men and women whose ministry is integral to church life. To learn more about getting involved as a Greeter, contact Ken Dyar at nanken00@embarqmail.com.

Prayer Warriors

Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God. RIPC is a body of believers dependent upon prayer and trusting that “God is good….All the time.”  The church’s Prayer Room is open in the front foyer and a Prayer Journal is provided to record joys and concerns.  Throughout the week, volunteer Prayer Warriors pray for our pastor, a list of church members and other special requests. Prayer Warriors hold all needs in the light and love of God and wait upon God for the promise of healing and “peace that passes all understanding.”  There is always a call and need for this powerful ministry!

Prayer Shawl Ministry

This group meets together weekly to pray and fellowship as they make prayer shawls to be used in a healing prayer ministry.  Even if you don’t know how to knit, members of the group will be glad to show you how!  Contact Joan Rippingale fore more information, 449-8664.

Other Volunteer Assistance

Volunteers are always needed for various short-term ministries and special services.  See sign-up sheets in the hallway adjacent to The Gathering Place to help provide flowers for worship, refreshments and clean-up for fellowship following worship, and meals as needed for special occasions as well as for folks needing extra support at home.  Stay connected through Facebook, the weekly bulletin and eNewsNotes to keep abreast of changing needs.  To receive timely notices by email, be sure to share your contact information with Nancy Griffin (griffina00@embarqmail.com).
